Roundup History
Roundup was introduced by Monsanto in 1974 and quickly became one of the most widely used weedkillers in the U.S. Its active ingredient, glyphosate, has been linked to serious health concerns.
Studies in 2001 and 2009 found higher risks of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma among those exposed, and in 2015 the World Health Organization classified glyphosate as “probably carcinogenic.”
Despite these warnings, Roundup remained on the market. In 2018, Monsanto was acquired by Bayer, which continues to produce the product.
